Monitor Network of a network model using cisco packet tracer
Actually network monitor is a must, because if you build a network and if you don’t monitor your network, then it can be harmful. So network monitor of this network model is a must. If you monitor your network on a daily basis, you can be able to identify unauthorized access into your network. So it is recommended to monitor the network regularly.
We’ll analyze network virtually using cisco packet tracer. It is recommended to use thelatest version of cisco packet tracer. If you don’t have the latest version of cisco packet tracer then download the latest version of cisco packet tracer from whilenetworking.com. This software is provided by cisco, for your better practicing, and download, I’ve uploaded it to a file sharing site, so that you can easily download cisco packet tracer.

So lets start our post of network monitor of this network model In this post, 1st we build a small network as a network model and after that we’ll see how our networks works by monitoring network of this network model. We’ll also monitor our network more and more deeply. We’ll do all this works using a network simulator software. As a network simulator software we’ll use cisco packet tracer. As you know it is a powerful network simulator software provided by cisco. It is recommended to use the lastest version of cisco packet tracer .
At the end of this post I also share you a packet tracer file which is used here. So to open the packet tracer file you need to install the cisco packet tracer.

We’ll build a computer network to Monitor Network of a network model which includes:
Router – 2
PC – 2
Switch – 1
Server – 1
Using the cisco packet tracer we’ll build the network to monitor of this network like this image.
After that we’ll implement IP address to each of this devices. Because we know that to communicate with each other, IP address is needed. So lets assign IP address.

So we’ve successfully assign the IP address to all the devices to Monitor network of a network model, and also made a connection. Which cable is connected to which devices, I have indicated in the picture. By examining the picture you’ll see that at the two end of a cable there is bubble of light green. These light green color indicates that, you have a successful connection between the two devices you have connected through a cable. If one bubble marks as red color then you should examine the device more and more clearly. If you find any fault, you need to solve the fault immediately. By solving the problem of thee device, you’ll see that the light green bubble will appear automatically. Here you can see that, all the bubbles are light green, so here all the devices are working and communicating with each other.
Monitor Network
Now lets check that packets are communicating with each other or not to Monitor network of the network model. In the packet tracer you can see there are letter packets. There are two types of packets. One is close packet that means one is close message box and the other is open message box. Here in this case we’ll use close message box to test our network.
Step a: Click the message box.
Step b: After that click the PC 1A
Step c: Click the R1-ISP
Step d: If the packet travel successfully, then in the right bottom of packet tracer you will see a successful message and the route destination of that packet.
Now we’ll do network monitor work.
Step a: In the right bottom side click the simulation mode. You will find this simulation mode by the side of Real time mode.
Step b: Click Auto capture/play.
Step c: Observe the network packet routing. Here in this step you can be able to monitor your routing packet. If there is problem with any connection, the packet will not go forward. And at that time you need to fixed that connection.
For your better practice I’m sharing a packet tracer file, which is provided by cisco. I think that this file will help you to realize the network more and more properly. I’ve practiced this network using this packet tracer file. To open this file you just need to install cisco packet tracer.
