In this post we’ll see how to design a network diagram and also realize the network architecture.
If we want to realize the network architecture, then we need to know more about the network design. We’ll realize network design using cisco packet tracer. As you know cisco packet tracer is a powerful network simulator tool, which can allow us to design a network virtually. If you don’t have cisco packet tracer, you can download the cisco packet tracer from this blog. It is always recomemded to use the latest version of cisco packet tracer.

As we are designing a very simple network and network architecture, we will use some easy and normal components to design the network and realize its architecture. To design the computer network we’ll use:
—- A PC (Desktop Computer)
—- A Switch (Model 2960)
—- A Router (Model 1841)
—- A server
—- A hub
So lets start designing the network diagram. At first we open the cisco packet tracer after installing the cisco packet tracer. If you installed the cisco packet tracer 6.3 or 7 version, then you may need to use the option marked as guest when opening the packet tracer. If you have netacad account, then you can use your netacad ID and password to log in as user. In guest account you may need to wait 15 seconds to open the cisco packet tracer. After opening the cisco packet tracer just check the right side bottom. Here you can see so many devices like Router, switch, hub, server and so many devices which is needed for the networking and also to realize the network architecture. Cisco packet tracer 7 has the features add the internet of everything. So we’ll select the devices from there, and drag the devices in the design window. After that we will add cable connection between the devices.
To add the cable connection we’ll use auto select connection feature. This feature automatically select the cable types. So we have done this step successfully. So we have designed a network model and realized its architecture. This network won’t work unless you implement IP address to the PC and routers. I’ve placed a post about the implementation IP and monitoring of the network. To implement IP and working with this network you can follow the post. Hope that that will enrich your knowledge.
So from this post we can able to gain some knowledge.
Lets have a small look at it:
1. We can now be able to familiar with the cisco packet tracer.
2. We can now locate the key components and can place them in the logical interface.
3. We can edit (Create and delete) the components.
4. We can now examine the devices and their connectivity.
5. We can now be familiar with auto connection option.
Actually, when packet tracer starts, it generally loads its logical view. The logical view generally stays in the real time mode. The main part of the packet tracer interface is the Logical Workplace. This is the large blank area where devices can be placed and connected.
Here in this post I’ve given you the pack tracer file, which can give you to instruct the design system, I have told you. Here in this file also it told to add one more extra device. That is IP telephony. I’ve not added that device here. If you want you can also add that device. The main reason I’m sharing the file with you, you can check your activity with this packet tracer. Here is an option marked as “completion”, through this you can check your scoring. You do all the activities clearly, you will get 100%. If there is a problem, you will get less percentage in the completion option. You can also get your working details under “Check result” option.
