Know your computer : Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor and Printer

Hello all. Lets see, what is in today’s post. Today we’ll learn about keyboard, mouse, monitor and printer.

Keyboard

Keyboard is the most important and most popular input device of a computer. In a keyboard there are 84 or 101 or 102 keys. Every keys works like and electronic switch. And under every key there is a spring. So when you release pressure, the key automatically goes up. Depending on the usage, the keyboard can be divided in 5 types. They are:

  1. Alphabetic key
  2. Numeric & logical key
  3. arrow key
  4. Function key
  5. special key

 

Now lets have a small discussion about them:

Alphabetic key:

In keyboard there are alphabet letters from A to Z. This section of the keyboard is called alphabetic section. Here using Shift or Caps Lock button you can change the case(Upper case or Lower case) of the alphabetic keys.

Numeric key:

In keyboard there are 0 to 9 numbers, these are called numeric keys. Also for the calculation or related tast there are also stays “+” sign, “-” sign, “=” sign etc. These are called logical key.

Arrow Key:

In keyboard there are some arrow key, like Up arrow, Down arrow, Left arrow, right arrow key. These keys are called arrow or edit keys. Using these keys you can change your cursor position in you computer.

Function key:

generally these keys stay on the upper or left side of the keyboard. Generally these keys are labeled as F1, F2,F3,…….,F12. Every key has different functions. For example, after opening a program, if you press the help key then you will see the help and support of that software.

Special key:

The key discussed here is not all the keys in the keyboard. There are also some keys in the computer for performing different types of tasks. These keys are Ctrl, Print, Power, Sleep, Shift, Tab, Caps Lock etc. All the keys has different tasks.

MOUSE of a computer

Mouse of a computer is also a input device. The mouse may have wired or wireless. Generally the mouse is connected with the computer with the wire or without wire and the mouse is kept is a plane surface. The mouse is related to the cursor, by changing the position of the mouse you can also change the position of the cursor. The mouse has minimum two buttons. Pressing the button of a mouse is called click. Through mouse you can active command. You can also active command for the computer using keyboard. But it is said that it is easy to make command using mouse. Because you can change the position of the cursor more and more rapidly using mouse.

 

Video Display Unit or Monitor:

In computer there is a display panel like TV screen, this part is called monitor. Thou\rough this monitor you can able to see all the inputs you have given to computer through the keyboard or other input devices. You also see the output through this monitor. SO it is an essential part of the computer.

Printer:

Printer is a output device of a computer. To make a printout of a document printer is used. Generally this printed output is called hard copy. According to the usage there are three types of computer, they are,

  1. Line printer
  2. Dot-matrix printer
  3. Laser printer

Line printer can work quickly. Depending on the quality, the line printer can print 25 to 300 line. This type of printer can print line by line. Dot-matrix printer also can work quickly depending on its power. Laser printer is considered the updated from them. It can print fast. This print uses laser to print . This printer don’t touch any paper, which other printers can do. As a result the printing rate is better than the two types of printer.
