Monitor network of the network model having wireless media
Today we’ll learn something about the wireless media and their connectivity. Till now in my previous posts, I’ve discussed about the computer networking which have physical cable connectivity. But lets discuss and test a connectivity having wireless media. In this topology we have a network cloud which is marked as “Model of ISP”. A server will connect with this “Model of ISP”. And other side of the “Model of ISP”, You’ll see a broadband router. Two devices connected with this router without wire, that means, with wireless. The devices are A router and a printer. You can see this topology in the picture. So the instruments we’ve used here is:
1 Broadband Router
1 Desktop PC
1 cable modem
So monitor network and also examine network model. After that we’ll examine the traveling of the packet. All the work of designing of the network we’ll do and examine using a very popular and powerful network simulator named cisco packet tracer. It is recommended to use the latest version of cisco packet tracer. If you don’t have the latest version of cisco packet tracer, then you can find the latest version of cisco packet tracer in this blog.
Here in the PC and also in the printer have the Linksys wireless router adapter installed. You can check the wireless adapter in the Desktop PC. To view the connectivity, just click the PC and go to the desktop tab. Now click the PC wireless, here you can see the wireless adapter.
Now come to the wireless router, click the wireless router and go to the GUI tab. You can also examine the settings and options which you need to monitor the network. Now we’ll test out connectivity in the real time mode. If it is successful, then we’ll test the connectivity in the simulation mode. We can that a web page is configured in the server and we need to browser that web page. Here the IP configuration of PC and The IP configuration of server is given below:
IP configuration of Desktop PC:
DHCP IP address is configured
IP configuration of PC:
IP address: 10.0.0.254
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 10.0.0.1
In the interface of router there are mainly 3 interfaces is working for this topology. They are:
In the interface named internet, for this topology there is no need to configure the port, Because the IP is obtained through DHCP. But in the LAN port you need to implement the IP address of 192.168.1.1 and the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. There is much configuration not needed to configure the wireless port. In the last of this post, I’ll provide you a topology, which will help you to enrich your knowledge.
So now we’ll browser the website from our Desktop PC. That web page is configured in the web server. So to browse a web page, just go to the desktop PC and open a browser. In the address bar of that browser, type myispweb.com. Wait for some time, what you can see?? Well you can see a web page. So now we’ll monitor network for this network model. We’ll monitor network for this travel of the packet, we’ll also observe the ICMP service of this network. To do this just switch to simulation mode in the packet tracer.
Now open the browser of the PC and type myispweb.com in the address bar. Click the go button. Now in the event window press Auto Capture/Play button. You’ll see the travelling of the packet and also can able to monitor network of this network model. So hope that after some time you’ll see the desired web page in the browser. Also you can now be able to see the ICMP services occurred in the event window. To view the ICMP service detail, just click the square box which stays by the side of the ICMP service. So through this we can now be able to monitor network successfully.
